  • Tuesday Rocks! 10/1/23

Originating from San Giovanni Bianco, Bergamo, and not only charmed by the folktales, legends and rich traditions, but also named in tribute to an iconic local mountain in the heart of a valley, Doom Metal/Heavy Metal riffers Cancervo release their second full-length, 'II', via Electric Valley Records on Friday 27th January, of which their album track, 'Herdsmen of Grem', is one of today's six of the best 'Tuesday Rocks!' • Danny Bryant Wins Best Support 9/1/23

"Danny was in good humour, reminding us to buy the few remaining copies of his (entirely fictitious) fitness video (Betamax only) and cassette; at least it reminded everyone that he had a well stocked merch stand and I saw one happy punter invest in the entire available back catalogue on vinyl. It was a welcome show of support for a talented and consistently entertaining artist." That was part of our take when we saw Danny Bryant supporting Eric Gales at London's O2 Academy Islington in March (pictured), and consequently not only has Danny been voted Best Support in our 2022 WRC Awards, but his cover of 'Little Wing', recorded in Germany in June, is today's Video Of The Day.

  • Bluesman Mike Wins Best Unplugged 8/1/23

"A pregnant pause by the former European Blues Awards Best Solo/Acoustic finalist, when changing his guitar (no roadies here folks!), as Francis next dispatched a beautifully poignant acoustic number, before closing out with a cover and singalong to JJ's 'Mercedes Benz', and finished with the Aynsley Lister vibe of 'Blinded By The Bistro'. We're in no doubt that Mike's appeal for his "Help Musicians" collection box was well rewarded after this great start to the evening." That was part of our take on Bluesman Mike Francis when he supported both Big Boy Bloater and The Bitter Pills at London's 100 Club in May (pictured), and consequently Liverpool and Philadelphia's finest has been voted Best Unplugged in our 2022 WRC Awards, as evidenced by today's Video Of The Day of 'Five More Wishes', recorded live in Liverpool one month later.

  • A New Day Wins Best Festival Award 7/1/23

"Maybe it was that end of a long weekend feeling but I took the opportunity to slip away into the night before the end of their set, reflecting that this festival offers a uniquely relaxed experience as well as the opportunity to hear some really good music. The line-up can’t hit the sweet spot every time but there’s enough variety and excellent musicianship to keep most people more than happy. Well done to promoter Dave Rees for organising such an excellent event in these troubled times. Long may it continue." That was part of our Day Three review of Faversham's A New Day Festival back in August, and consequently those three glorious Summer days in Mt Ephraim Gardens have been voted Best Festival in our 2022 WRC Awards as testified by today's 'Fox On The Run' Video Of The Day by The Sweet (pictured).

  • Cinellis Win Best Blues Rock 6/1/23

"The Cinelli Brothers are not to be missed. For a Blues band, they bring a remarkably diverse fan base with them wherever they play filling the room with young and old, from all different backgrounds. I’ve gone from casual photographer to fan myself in only a few months." That was part of our take on The Cinelli Brothers gig at London's Temple of Art and Music in Elephant & Castle in September (pictured/Video Of The Day), and consequently the UK Blues Challenge 2022 winners have also been voted 'Best Blues Rock Performance' in our 2022 WRC Awards.
