  • Hudson The Siren 3/8/23

An uplifting journey through Marc Hudson’s universe of Power Metal, anime influences, Japanese music and video game soundtracks, the DragonForce vocalist/guitarist releases his innovative first solo full-length, 'Starbound Stories', on Friday 25th August via Napalm Records, of which his second solo single, the energetic 'The Siren', is today's Video Of The Day. Led by a tingling, uplifting melody and ballad-like vocals, the anime-influences that have heavily inspired his ten-track debut, are clearly present in the soundscapes of this single, as the story-like lyrics enchant the listener, accompanied by a video that takes the magical atmosphere of the song to the next level.

  • Pearl Handled Fiddler's Elbow 31/7/23

"The palpable energy of the front man, Lee Vernon, with his gruff vocal style and deft Blues-harp playing is perfectly accompanied by the metronymic insistence of the drummer, Chris Thatcher, ably assisted on bass by Andy Paris: This isn’t just Prog, this is Krautrock rolled into one, and suitably alters the collective state of mind of the audience." That was part of our take last year on 2022 WRC Best Prog nominees Pearl Handled Revolver at A Sunday in September at Balham's The Bedford (see Video Of The Day), and the band return for another excellent London Prog Gigs promotion at Camden's Fiddler's Elbow next Thursday 3rd August with support from Viper Soup Complex.
