2015 WRC Award nominee Route 66 featured 21 year-old guitarist, singer and songwriter Chris King Robinson as their guest this week. Along with his obvious musical talents, his persistent use of social media and the web have helped to become a well known name amongst Blues circles. He has over 600,000 Twitter followers and has had millions of video views on Youtube. Chris and his band have just released their debut 5 track EP 'Tell Me Why You're Scared' and on today's Track Of The Day host Rory Auskerry discusses Chris's vocal development, influences, his career plan and more. All roads lead to the O2 Academy, Islington, tonight and King King! It was also good to get a tweet from the guys in advance of the gig - "Thanks for the plug chaps, hope to see you on the tour! " Of course our response was that not only will the WRC be represented tonight but we will also being doing a review and taking a few pics! King King's response being "Splendid - do say hello!" Well WRC member 'Big' Ian Cawthron and Mr. Rockrpix John Bull will be stepping up to the plate tonight so watch out for their take over the coming days. In the meantime take a gander at John's latest pics here of the recent Crobot gig. Amazing!
- 'Lady In Gold' Out Today 12/8/16
Up and coming multi-national rockers Blues Pills release their much anticipated album 'Lady in Gold' today and the album is currently sitting at number 16 on the UK official mid-week chart. Last week the band released new single 'Little Boy Preacher' (today's Vid Of The Day by editor extraordinaire Tommy Antonini) plus the band also recently released the official music video for the title track which was directed by Johan Bååth who is best known for his work with cult director Jonas Åkerlund (The Rolling Stones, U2, Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica) Just as it's highly successful predecessor, 'Lady In Gold' was once again produced by Don Alsterberg and the WRC are indeed are off to see Blues Pills at the Koko, London, on Sunday 6th November!

How often can you play through an amp and say I own a share of that company? Or go to a gig and say to your friend, see those amps, I own shares in them! Well now you can! Bands and artists all around the world have relied on Steve Grindrod's technology in building amps for Marshall including the JCM 800's and many of the others he designed and built for them over the 30 years working for them such as the VOX AC30/AC15 Heritage/Custom series. Steve has now created his own next generation of Amps and is looking for support by making a pledge here. Sounds like a sound investment to us to work with the world's greatest Amp designer and builder!

Making his debut UK tour, award-nominated Bluesman Chris Antonik (Vid Of The Day) is a rising star of the Canadian Blues scene. During his UK tour - which includes The Bulls Head, Barnes on Monday 18th July - he will be performing songs from his respected back catalogue as well as songs from his forthcoming new album, due for release in 2017. Blending innovative, thoughtful songwriting with stunning Blues guitar work, some music critics have drawn comparisons between Chris and Eric Clapton. Chris was then nominated for Best New Artist in 2011 at Canada's Maple Blues Awards and guests on his second album 'Better For You' included two-time Grammy award-winner Mike Mattison (The Derek Trucks Band, The Tedeschi-Trucks Band), American Blues Music award nominee Shakura S’Aida, Juno award-winners Steve Marriner (MonkeyJunk) and Julian Fauth, as well as Canadian music luminaries Suzie Vinnick and Richard Underhill.

With all the talk about BluesRockFest - do not overlook the fact that WRC Promotions has a bonus gig the following day - Sunday 25th September - at The Horn in St. Albans.
