The WRC already had tickets to see Joe Bonamassa at the London Greenwich Music Time Festival on Thursday 7th July - so we were delighted to hear Monday's announcement that Joanne Shaw Taylor will be opening for Joe on the night. JST has established herself as the UK’s number one star in the Blues Rock world. The girl with the big voice from the Black Country has toured extensively around the world and released critically acclaimed albums, gaining a global fanbase and playing alongside her musical idols. Oddly enough the first time we saw JST was in fact supporting JB's Black Country Communion at the Shepherd's Bush Empire at the end of 2010 and more recently at the Jazz Cafe, London, in October last year (see our Track Of The Day).

Good to see Meridian Radio's 'At The Empire' host Mike Bartlett tweeting on Monday "23/24 July in Mote Park, Maidstone, Ramblin Man Fair with Whitesnake,Thin Lizzy, Black Stone Cherry, Thunder, +++ check web.@MeridianRadio" Well we will be there Mike although unfortunately Ginger Baker won't be as he has cancelled all of his upcoming tour dates after being diagnosed with "serious heart problems". Anyway don't forget to tune into Mike's show here tonight between 8pm and 10pm!

After catching up with the guys at last Thursday's Shooter gig - Bob & Jules kindly dedicated the opening Wolfmother track to the WRC on this week's Rock On The Ridge Track Of The Day! One of the world's top jazz-fusion bassists, Alain Caron, will be hosting a live-streamed webinar on NMB Live here at 7pm (British Time) tonight. Alain Caron will be demonstrating his approach to performance and to pracice while taking your questions via the live chat during this pay per view event. Just four months after his awesome gig at the Royal Albert Hall, Steven Wilson returned to the capital following up on his acclaimed 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.' with the new interim album '4 ½' released last Friday. Thankfully the London Tube strike had been suspended - so it was all systems go at the Hammersmith Apollo to see the four-time Grammy nominee, multi-instrumentalist and producer and of course our 2015 WRC Award nominee! Produced and mixed by the man himself, '4 ½' features a stellar group of musicians including Adam Holzman (keyboards), Nick Beggs (bass), Guthrie Govan (guitar), Dave Kilminster (guitar), Marco Minnemann (drums), Chad Wackerman (drums), Craig Blundell (drums) and Theo Travis (saxophone). So did the Wilson faithful lap up more of his individual work or are they still waiting patiently for the return of Porcupine Tree? Anyway, watch out for more pics and a review shortly but in the meantime check out Steven's superb Bowie tribute Video Of The Day recorded live in Berlin last week!

As usual yesterday's February Bulletin was opened up by WRC members all over the world including the USA, New Zealand, Poland, Croatia and Brazil. We subsequently realised that we have recently neglected our Canadian correspondent 'The Moose' so it's about time we put that right! Indeed his excellent website 'Danger Canadian Content' carried an excellent review here of The White Buffalo (aka Jake Smith) who coincidentally is playing Ramblin' Man on the Outlaw Country Stage on Saturday 23rd July - and of course we will be there. The well overdue return of our 'Introducing ....' feature welcomes the Welsh mouthful that it is Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard! The Doom monsters consist of Paul Michael Davies (guitar and synth), Jessica Ball (bass and vocals), Wez Leon (guitar) and James Carrington (drums). Indeed our Track Of The Day is their new album ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth’ released by New Heavy Sounds at the end of last year. Paul was also formerly part of Mother Of Six who were featured by the WRC on a previous Wrinklycast.

Will is recognised as one of the most distinctive and exciting performers on the British Blues scene today. His guitar playing is both modern and cutting edge but also steeped in the blues history passed from generation to generation. Hardly surprising as Will has direct heritage to a golden age of music. As well as being a spellbinding live act, Will is a hugely respected songwriter, having thrice been nominated for ‘Best Original Blues Song’ by the British Blues Awards in three consecutive years!

We brought you news in October about guitarist Dave 'Bucket' Colwell, formerly of Bad Company and Humble Pie and his new band 'Buckets Rebel Heart'. Well not only has their new album '20 Good Summers' reached 99% of their pledge goal here - but also Dave is at Leos Red Lion on Saturday 13th February 2016. Support is also from our 2014 BluesFest mucker Damo Fawsett with his new band Big River. The gig kicks off at 7.30pm and tickets priced £8.50 can be ordered in advance here.

Christmas is drawing near and Tobias Sammet has got his "Nutcracker suit" on already! If you listen to the Tobias Sammet Rockshow on Radio Bob here on Wednesday 9th December at 21.00 German Time you will get a world-exclusive pre-listening of the new Avantasia tune! With their Proud, Camden, WRC Promotions gig just days away on Thursday 20th October - Birmingham Rock and Blues band, Broken Witt Rebels launched the official video for their new single ‘Georgia Pine’ last Wednesday - today's Vid Of The Day. The band have been nominated for Best Live Act and Best Rock Act at the inaugural Unsigned Music Awards, which will be held at London’s Troxy on Thursday 27th October and they will close the event with a live performance of recent single ‘Guns’. The following night, a Broken Witt Rebels electric session will be televised on The Friday Night Rock Show on Vintage TV!
