'Blues at The Woodlands' at the Woodlands Academy, Woodlands Road, Gillingham ME7 2DU returns tonight with Aidan Connell. Aidan is a 21st century Bluesman and singer songwriter who has been hailed as the saviour of contemporary British Blues. His live performances have been praised by music legends including Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr. and Seasick Steve. Connell is influenced by Blues icons such as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, combining Blues swagger with well crafted songwriting and guitar virtuosity which reinterprets the well worn Blues genre with a fresh approach and much needed urgency. Our mates Geoff Carne & The Hatz (our Vid Of The Day) are holding an acoustic launch party for their new album 'Get Close' at the George IV, 185 Chiswick High Road, Chiswick, London W4 2DR from 6-9pm tonight. The West London based duo consisting of Geoff Carne (back from his tour down under on guitar and vocals) and Mick Hatz (drums and percussion), are putting a fresh new feel on the Rock/Blues genre with their exciting original material (with a couple of covers). Our mates Shooter last Sunday announced their new Xmas single 'Xmas Time’s a Time to Rock' was available on pre-order from i-Tunes and Amazon for release on Thursday 17th December. It’s a been a busy year for them with a bunch of cracking festivals, the release of their critically acclaimed single 'Turn It Up' at the beginning of the year and the release of their debut album 'Recycled Teenagers' in September with an outstanding launch gig at the Half Moon in Putney. The guys hope that 'Xmas Time’s a Time to Rock' will become the de facto Rock record for Xmas and have produced a fun video to share with you here. So please play the song, spread the word and hopefully on the 18th December the UK will have a Rock record at No 1 for Xmas!

Rock legends Iron Maiden continue their hugely successful 'The Book of Souls' World Tour into 2017 with a series of European arena shows opening in Antwerp, Belgium on Saturday 22nd April, before heading into the UK and Ireland for an extensive series of concerts in May including The O2 Arena London on Saturday 27th May - and we will be there. 'The Book Of Souls' World Tour opened in Florida, U.S.A. in February 2016 visiting 36 countries using their new 747 jumbo jet Ed Force One (pictured here at Download) piloted by frontman Bruce Dickinson which flew band, crew and 22 tonnes of equipment over 61,500 miles across six continents during the 72 date leg playing to around 1.5 million fans. 'The Book Of Souls' is Maiden’s first ever double studio album and their most successful chart-wise to date, debuting at the #1 spot in over 40 countries around the globe.

Another new release today is the single 'Prisoner’, a retooled and revamped Big Band version of Danny Bryant's original track ‘Prisoner of the Blues’, which sees him fulfil a career-long ambition of recording for the first time with a nine-piece big band. Danny will also be exclusively touring Europe at shows and festivals during 2017 with his band featuring keys, rhythm guitar and a full four-piece horn section, culminating in the recording and release of a live album to be launched at a London show in April.

The Jack J Hutchinson Band (Track Of The Day) are the fourth band to be added to the 2016 BluesRockFest bill taking place at Leo's Red Lion, Gravesend, on Saturday 24th September. Alongside headliners The Stevie Nimmo Trio, 2015 WRC Award winners The Mentulls and Red Butler - Hutchinson is a British blues guitarist and in 2015 he was nominated for a British Blues Award for Emerging Artist.
