Tonight The Eel Pie Club at The Patch, 67 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SZ, will be presenting a special tribute to one of the Blues giants, Memphis Slim, which has already been performed at the Royal Albert Hall and has been endorsed by Peter Chatman, the son of Memphis Slim. The band features top Blues musicians, including Eric Ranzoni who has been playing keyboards with Mud Morganfield, the son of Muddy Waters, for 8 years; Pete Pritchard on bass who has played with, among others, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Jerry Lee Lewis and Alvin Lee plus Elvis' original guitarist Scotty Moore! On guitar is Mal Barclay of The Cadillac Kings and on drums George Hart. This tribute was inspired by Eric Ranzoni's meeting in Paris with drummer Michel Denis and pianist Jean-Paul Amouroux who both played with Memphis Slim during his French years later in his life. Doors open at 8.30pm with music from 9-11pm. WRC members are reminded that they can use their cards to get discounted admission.
