US Southern rockers, The Outlaws, 'Live At Rockpalast 1981', is now available as a CD/DVD-set with many photos from the festival plus liner notes by guitarist/vocalist Freddie Salem. it's an hour of full unbridled Southern Rock joy, bursting with power and endurance, recorded at the very first Rockpalast Summer Open-Air festival above the rocks of the Lorelei. As well as Freddie, the line-up that day was Hughie Thomasson (guitar/vocals), Billy Jones (guitar/vocals), David Dix (drums) and Rick Cua (bass), just a year after the band had released their commercially successful album 'Ghost Riders'. Indeed the CD/DVD features an eight-minute version of the anthem '(Ghost) Riders In The Sky', including a guitar battle between Salem, Thomasson and Jones, as does their other Southern statement, 'Green Grass And High Tides', which stretches over twenty breathtaking minutes.
