Last month, Augustine, aka Italian singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalistSara Baggini, released her new album 'Proserpine', on the I Dischi Del Minollo label, three years after her previous album, 'Grief And Desire', and the second single taken off of the new album, 'Anemones', is today's beautiful Video Of The Day. Indeed, the new sounds, dense and sombre, are musically much closer to Dark Folk than to the Dream Pop of the previous album, given Augustine's musical influences not only come from the British Post-Punk, Dream Pop and Dark Wave scene of the eighties (Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, Siouxsie And The Banshees), but also from all the female songwriters and artists she loves (Kate Bush, Sinead O’Connor, Annie Lennox, PJ Harvey, Agnes Obel, Anna Calvi, St. Vincent, Bjork, Enya, Julianna Barwick, Meredith Monk).
