Those Damn Crows + The Cruel Knives

Sunday 8th October 2023

O2 Academy Bournemouth

We caught up with South Welsh rockers Those Damn Crows recently on the UK leg of their European “Takedown” tour, with support from The Cruel Knives (watch out for them) 👊

Their recent third album release, 'Inhale/Exhale', is packed with powerful riffs and melodic anthems which came to the stage in abundance. Some would say front man Shane Greenhall has the voice of an angel, but the power he delivers in these ballads, together with their massive energetic stage presence, only serves to whip up their audiences to some fantastic choruses of fan participation - truly amazing feeling to witness and humbling to be part of.

I was convinced these guys were destined for huge things having first witnessed their set back in 2019 promoting their first album 'Murder & the Motive', with initial classics such as 'Blink of an Eye' and 'Rock n Roll ain’t Dead'.

Despite lockdown, they hit back with their second album, 'Point of No Return', and again reaffirmed this band's incredible ability to focus on a range of Heavy Rock riffs and powerful ballads that combined superfluously acoustically and with huge emotion from the piano. Indeed, with 'Sin on Skin', 'Never Win' and 'Who Did It', being added to their growing back catalogue.

Unsurprisingly. their current third album has therefore moved them forward another massive step with an incredible anthem in the form of 'Takedown', the beautifully chorused 'This Time I’m Ready', along with a massive banger and personal favourite of mine, 'Wake Up (Sleepwalker)'.

Its taken these boyos from Bridgend, with the ability of fresh original songwriting abilities. up the ladder from supporting the likes of Goo Goo Dolls and The Hollywood Vampires, to kicking off their own European headline tour…. And long may it continue!

If you're not already part of the Crow Family, then join in and see if you can catch them live on their last two UK legs at Brighton's Chalk this Monday 16th October plus London's O2 Forum the following night.

Also watch out for The Cruel Knives…. Sometimes the best things come to those that follow!

Rock on!
