The 100 Club, London
The Milk Men’s ‘Live at Milk Fest’ album launch gig was so upbeat, energetic and entertaining. A great evening of gold topped Blues Rock. Comprising Jamie Smy fronting on vocals, Adam Norsworthy on lead guitar and vocals, Lloyd Green on assured bass and Mike Roberts on drums were be jacketed and besuited. So smart, cool and sartorial. Indeed, it was a ramped-up romp of a set right from the start!
Opening with ‘Make Mine a Double’ and ‘Hungover’, both so catchy songs, full of fun, that set the tone. Smy strutted his stuff across the long stage of The 100 Club with his raw, powerful vocals and vibrancy. Also the banter and lean in with the accomplished Norsworthy was amusing to witness. Similar to back in February at London's Indigo at The O2 established guitarist Todd Sharpville once again guested with the quartet for ‘The Score’, very aptly delivering alongside Adam a worthy extra guitar infused dimension to the score!
Then the guys were off again with even more ramped up Blues Rock and Rock ‘n’ Roll, playing ‘Cheap Seats’ and ‘Give A Little Love’ - both sing-a-long songs, which the large, enthusiastic crowd duly did! Mike Roberts on drums was clearly enjoying himself throughout, even getting up from his drum kit and bringing his tambourine to the front of the stage, joining Adam, Jamie plus the cool Lloyd, who excelled with his solid bassist stance and bassline delivery.
Other notables which got the crowd going were ‘Fabulous’, ‘One Man Band’, ‘Bad Case Of Loving You” and a cover of The Who’s ‘Pinball Wizard’. Showing their versatility, the band then switched gear and tone for the slowed down and soulful, ‘Give Me A Reason’, before talented harmonica player Nigel Priest also guested on ‘Going Back Home’. Make sure you go see The Milk Men some for great Blues Rock and Rock ‘n’ Roll and enjoy!
