The Damn Truth have spent a lot of time on the road this year. Following three separate tours of the UK, they could be forgiven for being below par after the six-hour drive from Montreal to Toronto, to play at Drums n Flats in Ajax recently. Not a bit of it......

From the opening intro of ‘White Rabbit’ then straight into 'This is Who We are Now' to the very end, The Damn Truth were on it, tighter than a duck’s backside and clearly having a lot of fun. With a set list mostly drawn from their latest album ‘Now or Nowhere’, and with Lee-La casting her spells through sheer stage presence and those raspy amazing Blues vocals (think Vinegar Joe/Cado Belle), Tom’s searing guitar work and a thumping back line from PY and Dave, they delivered again and again. The set list also included ‘Love Outta Luck (New Single)’ ‘Lonely’, ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Only Love’ and ‘Look So Innocent’ among others.

In addition, they demonstrated an amazing awareness of their audience, getting off stage to dance/play in an appreciative house. It would have easy for them to get frustrated with mic stands falling off a bouncing stage, but it didn't show as they delivered a full-on non-stop Rock festival set. We’ve been fortunate to have seen The Damn Truth several times and they have never been anything other than excellent. Miss them at your peril.
