Leaf Hound
Thursday 24th April 2025
Eel Pie Club, Twickenham, London
The intimate setting tonight of the refurbished, red Eel Pie Club, showcasing Leaf Hound’s new album 'Once Bitten', so suited this Hard Rock band. Peter French fronting the quartet is every inch the Rock star. His assured stances on stage with toned, fit physique and leather look is compelling to watch. Peter is a perfectionist of his vocal and stage craft. So cool.
French’s energetic moves are a masterclass for front men. Luke Rayner on guitar and Pete Herbert on bass play tightly and with sustained gusto. The tempo is ramped up and largely stays that way throughout the long and varied set. They not only showcased the new album playing 'Yippee Ki Yay', 'Cinderella', 'Broken Dreams', 'Chain Gang' and 'Thought Police', but also featured a number of tracks from their hugely popular 1971 album 'Growers of Mushroom'.
In all the long set was fast paced with no sags. Herbert is the jumping bassist too providing great entertainment. Super active - not static - on stage. And having a terrific time. Dominic French is an accomplished fast place drummer, there on merit not nepotism. The long set crossed the genres of Rock, Prog Rock, Blues and Psychedelic Rock. I also just so loved the so catchy 'Too Many Rock n Roll Times'.
This Rock n Roll time spent with Leaf Hound this evening was so worth it. Listen to them and go see!
