Dan Patlansky

Saturday 13th April 2024

Dingwalls, Camden, London

Dan Patlansky, the South African Blues Rock virtuoso, delivered a mesmerising performance at Dingwalls in Camden. Originally scheduled for Nell's Jazz & Blues, the concert was moved due to venue improvement works, but this change did not deter Patlansky's loyal fans, who packed Dingwalls alongside newcomers eager to experience his legendary guitar skills.

Patlansky is currently touring to promote his latest album ‘Movin' On’ across the UK and EU, and his setlist showcased a mix of new tracks and fan favourites. From the moment he stepped on stage, it was clear why Patlansky is hailed as one of the finest guitarists of his generation. His mastery of the Fender Stratocaster speaks volumes to his dedication to the art, with each note expertly crafted to exploit the guitar's signature tone. There are few that could be considered a Strat Master, but Mr. Patlansky is certainly that.

The evening was marked by flawless execution and impassioned performances. Patlansky's rendition of ‘Tell Me’, a Stevie Ray Vaughan cover, was a standout moment. Joined by 16-year-old guitar prodigy Rhys John Stygal, currently nominated for the Jules Fothergill Young Blues Artist of The Year Award, the duo engaged in an electrifying guitar duel that left the audience spellbound. It was a testament to Patlansky's generosity and mentorship within the Blues community.

The setlist was a blend of new tracks like ‘Lift Off’, ‘Red Velvet Suit’ and ‘Movin On’, which showcased Patlansky's evolving musical style, alongside classic hits such as ‘Snake Oil City’ and ‘Big Things Going Down’. Each song was delivered with precision and passion, demonstrating Patlansky's deep connection to his music and his audience.

Overall, Patlansky's performance at Dingwalls was a testament to his status as a guitar icon. His technical prowess and genuine enthusiasm for the Blues left an indelible mark on everyone present. As the night came to a close with the crowd cheering, it was clear that Dan had once again delivered an unforgettable night of Blues-Rock excellence.
